Dental Implants
Implantology is a critical breakthrough that has improved the lives of thousands of patients. Indeed, it is often the optimal solution because it makes it possible to avoid unnecessarily sacrificing healthy teeth, it is the only possibility of avoiding a removable prosthesis, it avoids bone loss linked to the extraction of a tooth. and the patient regains the comfort of the original teeth and therefore an incomparable quality of life.
What is a Dental Implant?
An implant is a kind of titanium screw, fixed in the bone like the root of a natural tooth. The implant allows the missing tooth to be replaced without affecting the other teeth.
This is why the practitioner adapts the length, diameter and shape to the clinical case thanks to an efficient radiological examination: 3D or scanner. It is almost impossible to tell the difference between a good implant and a real tooth.
Dental implants are both strong and durable and will last for many years if properly cared for.

First of all the practitioner must access the bone, freeing the gum. To do this, he makes an incision using a scalpel, then he peels off the gum to see his operating field.
Clearly, a dental implant is the optimal solution if one or more teeth are missing. Thus, almost anyone can benefit from a replacement solution for their teeth, which looks and functions the same as a natural tooth. However, it is important to have fully developed bone tissue beforehand. This explains why dental implants are not normally installed on people under the age of 18.
The implantologist will, using drills of suitable diameter, prepare the place in the bone. The implant penetrates the bone with slight force. It is thus stabilized. After placement of the implant, the osseointegration phase will take place. Indeed the implant, unlike the tooth, is totally fixed, that is to say ankylosed in the bone. The loading of the implant is generally deferred to allow the osseointegration phase (from several weeks to several months). Subsequently, a crown will be placed on this implant which will behave like an artificial root.
Implants is enables one or more teeth to be safely replaced with a permanent implant, without touching the healthy adjacent teeth. Implants can be used to replace a full set of missing teeth, without disturbing prosthetic materials such as acrylic saddles or metal braces. Older patients who have used a full-fledged prosthesis for many years often complain about the insecurity of fixation of the prosthesis, which leads to movement while eating and speaking. Just two or four small implants can secure the prosthesis.
There are two options: the ceramic fixed prosthesis which offers better aesthetic quality, greater comfort and also better function. The removable prosthesis (which can be removed and put back), made of resin and which is a more economical option, given that it is a simpler treatment.
The innovative method of basal implantology is suitable for people suffering from diabetes, hypertension, periodontal disease as well as smokers.
How does the healing process take place after dental implants have been placed?
During the postoperative period, tension swelling and discomfort in certain teeth are possible, but this possible quite normal phyisiological reactions, which will disappear quite quickly quite naturally. It is only necessary that you follow your prescription medication as recommended by your doctor and that you do not eat for two hours after the procedures.
Is there any pain during dental implant placement?
The patients do not feel any pain during the manipulation, as the procedure is performed under local anesthesia.
