Cataracts Treatment & Surgery
Cataract surgery is performed in a sterile environment and under local anesthesia (eye drops), which has an average duration of 20-30 minutes. It is a painless operation with a rapid healing time, to do cataract phacoemulsification is used, the latter is the most widely practiced eye surgery in the world today, through a micro-incision of about 2 mm made under a microscope, the opaque lens is "emulsified" into very small pieces and evacuated (aspirated), and replaced by an intraocular implant.

Instructions to follow for your Cataract Surgery
The doctor will give you a prescription for preoperative and postoperative drops which you will need to purchase. Note that you will need to start the application 2 days before your surgery.
You will have to wait 5 minutes between the application of each of your drops in order to optimize its absorption.
It is very important to provide a companion or a safe means of transportation for the day of your surgery. You will not be able to drive and your vision may be blurred. It is the same for the follow-up appointment after the surgery 24-48 hours postoperatively.
Apply your preoperative drops the morning of the operation;
Bring a list of your medications, in tablets and drops, even if they are not eye medications (for the eyes);
Take your medication as usual;
Dress comfortably, as you won't have to change for your surgery.
The wearing of jewelry and make-up is prohibited;
Eat lunch or dinner, depending on the time of your appointment, as usual.
A nurse will be present to answer your questions before the surgery.
Just after:
You will have a follow-up appointment after 24-48 hours postoperatively with your doctor;
During appointments, always bring your drops and your calendar;
Return to work varies depending on the nature of your duties and your work environment;
It is normal to have blurred vision;
Reading, watching television and using a computer are allowed, taking breaks to reduce dry eyes;
You need to put the shell on your eye for a week when you sleep;
You should start your postoperative drops 4 hours after surgery, when you get home;

For the first fortnight:
Do not rub the eyes;
Do not lift or lift heavy weights;
